Robin Moon
Biography
Robin lives near the harbour in Sydney with her husband Tim
and came to photography as a way of decompressing from a stressful other career.
She strives in her photography to always find the lighter side of life - being out in nature,
getting grubby in the dirt or waiting for hours in the hot sun or freezing cold; its all a metaphor
for being able to immerse herself deep into another world. Animals , with their unpredictability,
and their ability to make her laugh out loud, are her passion. She hopes her work conveys that joy.
Robin partners with Sony and is a Sony Digital Imaging Advocate. She enjoys sharing her
passion for image making through running workshops and educational days covering technique,
equipment and post processing.
Her skill as a communicator has been recognised, which has led to
a number of invitations to judge in a variety of photographic competitions :
Australian Photographic Prize - 2022 + 2023
Sony Alpha Australia Awards, Nature Category 2019 - 2022
Mosman Photography Awards 2019-2024
Robin gives corporate presentations and judges regularly for FCC(NSW) Camera Clubs
and is currently the Vice President of Mosman Camera Club.
In November + December 2022 she represented Sony / Intrepid Travel in Antarctica
as a Photography Ambassador onboard the Ocean Endeavour.
In February 2025 she will represent Sony in Greece as a winner of the Scene Festival prize
and in March returns to Antarctica as part of the Sony / Chimu Travel Antarctic expedition.
She has :
...Been kissed by a wolf in Norway, climbed inside a giant tortoise shell in the Galapagos,
hiked up a glacier into the Crystalline Ice Caves of Iceland and trekked to an altitude of 5005 metres
to sip tea with the locals in the shadows of Mt Chomolari in the Himalayas of Bhutan.
...Explored the dunes of the world's largest desert in the United Arab Emirates to photograph the falcons
diving at breakneck speed, and let out a squeal of sheer joy at the dancing Northern lights whilst stuck
waist deep in fresh snow in the Lofoten Islands.
...Photographed the adorable Atlantic Puffins of Skomer Island in Wales, and watched a herd of
Camargue horses gallop out of the ocean in the pink sky dawn. She has eyeballed the cheeky
Humpback Whales of Tonga, played underwater tag with the Sealions of Kangaroo Island and
stood up to the sociable stingrays of Jervis Bay head-butting her for fishy snacks.
Proficient in Lightroom and Photoshop storytelling is the motivation behind her work
with the aim being to make a connection through adventure, nature and humour.
