Lost in The Landscape

One of my favourite images from The Mallee is not an abstract aerial image,
but this view taken in a remote and pristine area, away from the impact of man.
It shows a solitary figure in the midst of a quite ethereal scene
surrounded by pastel colours and reflections.

We tend to identify with a figure in an image,
imagining ourselves in the landscape that is presented.
A figure also provides scale, which often heightens the visual impact.

An abstract image blurs the boundary between reality and the
extracted artwork, so that we can appreciate shape, pattern,
colour and texture without preconception.

In this image, the landscape and weather conditions
take us to that same place without the need for abstraction

The image was taken with a DJI Mavic 2 Pro drone,
with a polarising filter to control the glare found in the scene.
It is a self portrait and I left only footprints,
that were washed away by the evening rains.
